My Change.org colleague Michael Kleinman has written a riveting account of his time denying his Jewishness while doing aid work in the Sudan.
It is true that Jewish groups have been at the forefront of organizing for humanitarian intervention in Darfur. It is true that some defenders of israel use the racism of the Sudanese and the victimization of the people of Darfur as a way to deflect criticism and argue that the world's hypocrisy lets them off the hook. It is also true that the heart of the Darfur solidarity movement is a desire to protect innocent people who are victims of a brutal government
