One of the most frequently heard arguments used in Israeli public relations for the war runs like this: "What would you do if rockets were landing on your head?"

This is meant to be a kind of preemptive knock out blow. It's like the question asked of Dukakis in 1988 - "Governor, if Kitty Dukakis [his wife] were raped and murdered, would you favor an irrevocable death penalty for the killer?" If you answer according to your values and nuanced understanding of all the political issues, you can then be dismissed as being completely out of touch with the personal experience
